I took my mother out on a 'Mommy, Daughter Date' the last Saturday of May & we have an awesome time. They were busy but we were seated at the hibachi grill immediately. The only wait time we endured was about 6-8 minutes while waiting for the chef to return to our grill after just finishing up at another grill. My mother & I both ordered the steak hibachi rice & shared a plate of the Curly Sue roll sushi, this PLUS our drinks was under $40 so I'd say that we got our money's worth! Our chef was very nice & kept the entire table entertained.

I have also been ordering take-out from there fromt iem to time & I DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone looking for a NEW dinig experience, as Tupelo does not have a whole lot to offer.

If you want a dinner and a show, well how about a dinner from a show!!

This restaurant is a good way to celebrate any occasion. I recommend

this and you wont regret it!!

Kyoto overall was a big disappointment even though the food was good..it is very expensive for the amount of food you receive...the wait time was horrible...you're packed in a space probably smaller than a jail cell waiting for your name to be be called.. the hibatchi tables are too close.. SO if u go be prepared to spend a lot of money and be prepared to wait..for lackluster service

Was really good whenever it first opened. Now they charge 99 cents for

each of their sauces (Total BS). ALSO, my favorite item was the side of

fried rice which they have now doubled the price on. Any reasons on why

there wasn't a packed house this past Saturday at 7 oclock? There are

two reasons at the beginning of this review.



I will say that it's nice to get complimentary Kyoto soup when you sit at

the sushi bar.



Ichiban all the way.

Excellent service. Around $40.00 per a couple(for the chef and grill.) Well worth the money. The chef performed a great show and keep putting all the food we could eat on our plates. Excellent atmosphere. All areas very clean.

My husband and I went for our first time recently. It was 9:00pm and they close at 9:30 but they let us have a hibachi table anyway. The food was excellent and so was the service. The chef was funny and very entertaining and did a wonderful job. Will definitely be going back!!

We enjoy Kyoto's. The food is very good, especially the fried rice! The sushi is very good as well. We will definitely eat there over Romie's!

WE had a very bad experience also were only 4 of us were dining at a TABLE and they added a 20% tip to the bill. We have not been back and like the other person said SHOGUN's ROCK and Ma diffently would not have stood for that.

I had sushi for the first time today. It was our 32nd anniversary and my husband and friends went to Kyoto. I loved the sushi. Granted, some of it was cooked, but I think I'm ready to branch out and will definitely try it again.



On the downside, the service was horrendous. Our party got there right after the restaurant opened and it was relatively empty. After lying to us about why our food was so late (over an hour) the waiter finally told us that he or the kitchen had misplaced the ticket. He also didn't seem to know the menu very well and forgot which person ordered what food.



But even the very bad service is not going to keep me from trying more sushi from Kyoto and recommending it to my friends.

The special was average, the sushi was good, but the service was TERRIBLE. We could not get refills, they didn't bring everybody's food out at the same time (we were at a regular table), & the waiter forgot the rice and it was 15 minutes before he finally did bring it after we asked several times. THEN he tried to stiff us for our change - we paid with cash and should have gotten $38 back. He brought us $18 back and when we questioned him about the remainder he said "You gave me that for tip." We never had the option to give him a tip, he took it out before giving us the change back! There were only 4 of us, so gratuity was not included in the bill. After a huge ordeal, he finally handed us $10- he kept $10 for himself. We gave up at that point and let him keep it! We will never go back! Shogun is the best! Ma would never treat her customers like that!

We drove from Olive Branch, MS and all I can say is WOW. People were already at the door 30 minutes before they opened. We were seated and then the experience began. The waiter took our order for drinks, helped us on what to eat. Shrimp GREAT.. The our cook (KID) came and made our meal. Our children loved it and we had so much fun. We plan on going back again. WAY TO GO!!!! Food was good and service was happy and fun.

Okay! Well my experience was horrible due to on Sunday lunch. It wasn't busy. The service got our order but he forgot our soup, salad, and drinks at the grill. The show was awesome no doubt but the food was too dry to eat and i didn't really enjoy my meal. But it's okay somewhat....

As good as any of the hibachi grills in Memphis...definately worth a trip! Although I will say that if you have ever been to a Benihana or Ichiban in Tupelo and love their shrimp sauce, Kyoto does not have it.

Kyoto is great. The food was really good; I had both sushi and something from the grill. The teppanyaki high jinks of our cook were very amusing. I would have rated the cleanliness higher had I not sat in a pool of oil where a server had an accident.

A great atmosphere and quality food at reasonable prices makes this a great choice in the area for Japanese food. You have a choice between the "grill" area (communal seating) and the food is cooked right in front of you (with some flare), or you can chose to sit in a more traditional "restaurant" area and order from a menu at a regular table. I chose the menu and ordered a special box lunch of chicken teriyaki, which also included 3 California rolls, salad, and steamed rice. The cost was a very digestible $9.50 including beverage. Service was ...eh, ok, but the waiter was "in training" so I may have rated the service higher if I didn't by chance get "the new guy". There are two bars, one for sushi and the other for alcohol, both have 40" flat screen TVs showing various sports/news channels. Overall, this new addition to the Tupelo restaurant scene is a great choice.
